COSPLAY POLICIES

We love when guests want to dress the part to play an ESCAPE! Alaska escape room, and there are a few things you can do to ensure everyone remains safe and has a good time in the room when you are in costume.

WEAPONS AND PROPS

When cosplaying with weapons at ESCAPE! Alaska, the same rules apply that you will find at any convention. All costume props and weapons must be examined at the front desk, and they must conform to State of Alaska and federal law.

  • Absolutely NO real firearms.

  • Projectile costume props and weapons must be rendered inoperable.

  • Functional (real) arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip-tied to a quiver.

  • Costume swords must be tied to your costume in such a way that they can’t be drawn.

KEEP IT SHEATHED

It’s important to remember that outside tools may not be used in any ESCAPE! Alaska escape room, and this includes daggers, swords, or any other part of your costume. Everything you need to complete our escape rooms is provided, and use of outside tools may be cause for immediate removal without refund. The purpose of any costuming and accessories is to add to your immersion, making the experience feel that much more real.

MAKEUP

As a general rule, we prefer guests not use excessive makeup, as it can be difficult to remove from props and set pieces. Be sure to set any makeup you do use so that it is less likely to transfer to anything in the escape room. Ben Nye Colorless Powder is a great example of an effective setting agent.

THE TOMB

Even coming out of The Great Depression, everyone looked their best when they left the house. Moreso if you were a gangster.

Think Brendan Fraser’s “The Mummy” or “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.” That’s certainly what we were thinking when we built THE TOMB.
