HOW DID APRIL FOOL'S DAY GET STARTED?

DIDJA KNOW!?

Replacing an Oreo’s stuffing with toothpaste. Slapping a “kick me” sticker on a friend’s back. Wrapping a co-worker’s entire cubicle in tin foil.

April Fool’s Day is a day to have a little good-hearted fun with friend and family by playing harmless pranks on them. But how did such a “holiday” come to exist in the first place?

Historians believe it had to do with the changing of the calendar. Before adopting our current Gregorian calendar back in 1582, the New Year was celebrated at Spring Equinox, or around April 1. Once the new calendar was adopted and New Year was celebrated January 1, those who hadn’t gotten the word and celebrated on April 1 were teased as being fools.

Which is way better than having someone put Saran Wrap over your toilet bowl.
